Breakthrough: an act or instance of moving through or beyond an obstacle.
At some point you’ve probably found yourself in need of a breakthrough in some area of your life.
We’ve all been there when we faced an obstacle that we could not find a way around. The problem was quite clear; the solution was not.
We tried something; it didn’t work. We asked around. We Googled it. We read a book, listened to podcasts, thought long and hard about it, did everything we knew to do, and still the problem was there, but now, it seems even bigger and more frustrating because we tried all these things and we’re no closer to solving it then where we were before, or even worse, it seems like we lost ground.
So, what do we do?
The definition of insanity, often attributed to Albert Einstein, someone who knew a thing or two about overcoming big obstacles is this: Insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results.
Sound familiar?
So why do we keep trying to do the same thing over and over to find a breakthrough without seeing results? Probably because we cannot think of another way to do it.
So, again, what do we do?
We do what so many people have done throughout Biblical history, we seek God with all our hearts and look to Him to overcome.
That’s what King David did. Daniel the prophet did. Ezra did. Moses did. Jesus did.
And maybe you’ve tried that before… but did you do the following?
Did you pray and fast?
Did you pray and fast over multiple days?
Did you get others to pray with you and for you?
Did you seek out specific verses from God’s Word that addressed your situation? ‘
Did you turn these verses into prayers?
Did you seek God with all your heart?
Well, this is what we are going to do at Bridges as we seek breakthroughs in people’s lives in many circumstances.
Spiritual breakthroughs. Mental and physical health issues. Relational issues. Financial issues. Spiritual issues. Wherever we find ourselves facing a closed door, we will seek out God to open the doors or show us a way around or change our perspective – all of these involve a breakthrough.
This Sunday, I will be teaching on How to Pray for a Breakthrough.
Also, we are calling a church wide time of prayer and fasting – Monday, November 20 - Tuesday, November 21, sundown to sundown as we seek God together.
Also, the church will be open, and our elders and prayer leaders will be available to pray with you – Monday, November 20, 5:30-7:00pm as we seek a breakthrough together. This is a “come and go” type of event – come anytime during that time and leave when you are ready, but come ready for prayer and leave with expectation that God will act from His good, perfect and pleasing will.
God is able to overcome any obstacle and breakdown any wall. He is where we will find our breakthroughs. Let us seek Him together and may we find the breakthroughs we need.
I have told you all this so that you may have peace in me. Here on earth you will have many trials and sorrows. But take heart, because I have overcome the world.
