It's Time for Small Groups!

It’s time for SMALL GROUPS. Normally, we take the summer off as people travel and change up their schedules. This year we focused on connecting through multiple Connect Events which were so much fun. I really enjoyed all the ones I was able to attend, especially being able to talk with people and just hang out together. I don’t always have time for that on Sundays, but at these events, that was the focus. It was a good summer.

Now it’s time for Small Groups to launch. Small Groups provide an even better space for even deeper connection. They are a great place to be real, be encouraged, laugh, share, listen, learn, and grow as a follower of Jesus.

The first church gathered in the temple for worship, but also met in people’s homes for human connection. For them, it was life changing and a way of life. They were devoted to one another.

Our focus this year is Devoted23: A deeper devotion to Christ, His church, and His mission. On Sunday mornings, we get to see one another. In Small Groups we get to know one another. There is a big difference. Devotion is built over time in small increments. A story here. A meal there. A prayer here. A word of encouragement and support there. Slowly, over time and interactions, connections are made, and we grow.

This year there will be some new groups started, new opportunities to jump in, new topics to consider, new friends to meet.

ROOTED will be offered again. This is the Small Group study that we are want everyone to go through as it introduces so much of what Small Groups are all about.  It’s one of the best studies I have experienced. If you haven’t taken it already, we would love for this fall to be that time. ROOTED is a great place to start. (Stacey and I are leading it with Jim & Laurie Keegan, on Sunday nights – it will be a great time!)

At Bridges, we strive to help everyone to become more like Jesus as His followers – people who are devoted to, developing in, and deployed by Jesus. Small Groups are where we become equipped and prepared to live for Him.

Sign-ups start this Sunday at church and online, and groups start the week of September 10. Look for more information to come.
