There is a statement floating around out there that caught my attention; I think it started out as a t-shirt.
She walked with God; that was her game changing strategy.
Not sure where it came from originally, but it got me thinking and has stuck with me.
We try so hard to make changes in our lives – to be a better person, to get more done, to get more rest, to watch what we say, to be a better spouse, to read our Bibles, pray more, serve more, spend less – save more, love more, eat less, exercise more, sleep better, spend more time doing things that are important, stopping to smell the roses.
We want a game changing strategy that works – that leads to more fulfillment and a life worth living. The abundant life Jesus promised.
What if it is as simple as “walking with God?”
This is a theme from Scripture…
He has told you, O man, what is good; and what does the Lord require of you but to do justice, and to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God? - Micah 6:8
Therefore, as you received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in him, - Colossians 2:6
But I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh. - Galatians 5:16
Noah walked with God. - Genesis 6:9
Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me. - Psalm 23:4
She walked with God; that was her game changing strategy.
Walking with God – step by step through the day. Sharing your frustrations when things are going sideways. Sharing your joys when grace breaks through. Resting. Being. Reflecting. Renewing. Drawing from the well of living water. Step by step with Him.
We all want a game changing strategy, the thing that’s effective in all situations and all circumstances. Some thing that works. That thing is not a thing, it’s a person. Jesus.
Walk with Jesus. Make Him part of your day. Reflect on where you last were with Him. Move closer to Him now. Take a step with Him and keep walking.
Walk with Him today. That is a game changing strategy.
This Sunday at Bridges:
This weekend we will be looking at where we are with our walk with Jesus. Take some time between now and then to reflect on where you are with Him. Are you close? Distant? Stalled? Looking for more? At peace? Growing? Centered? Challenged? Frustrated? Encouraged? Empowered? Reflect and then come ready to take some new steps of faith.
