Biblical Counseling is about speaking the truth in love to help hurting people in the context of the local church. While it may reach out beyond the borders of the church to reach unbelievers and point them to Christ, it is primarily about helping believers to grow through the sanctification process of change.
But believers have the same problems that unbelievers do. We just have a different solution to those problems, a different paradigm for change empowered by the Holy Spirit as we walk in obedience to the Word. Our solutions are anchored in Scripture and sound theology, centered on Christ and the gospel. Biblical counselors are attentive to heart issues as they bathe their ministry in love and prayer.
Our counsel must be thorough, practical and relevant to those without and within the church. Our goal is reconciliation first to God and then to others as we become peacemakers promoting unity within the body of Christ. Because we live in a sin-cursed world, suffering and emotional pain is a part of that experience to which we must minister in love and truth.
Danelle’s Bio:
Hi! My name is Danelle Peak. My husband, Brandon, and I have been married since 2005, and we have two teenage girls, Michaela and Naomi.
I was saved as a teenager during a Good Friday youth event, but didn’t really allow God to have full access to my life until my 20’s. He was gracious and patient with me as I learned how much I needed the Holy Spirit to make changes in my heart that I could not make on my own. I am so grateful He sent biblical mentors who poured into me and pointed me back to Christ. And now God has called me into the counseling ministry so that He can use me to pour into others.
I currently have a Lay Counseling certificate through Biblical Counseling Center (BCC) and I am pursuing certification with the Association of Certified Biblical Counselors (ACBC). Below are some links to get more information about those ministries.
