This week we kick off Part 2 of our series, Ready. Set. Go: 2 Thessalonians. This book is essentially a book about hope. It is for anyone who has lost hope or is looking for hope or is trying to help someone else find hope.
Hope is essential for life. Someone has said that we can live 40 days without food, 3 days without water, 8 minutes without oxygen but not a second without hope.
Author Fyodor Dostoevsky wrote, “To live without hope is to cease to live.”
The Thessalonian church was on the verge of losing hope – this new church was facing daily hardships and persecution because of their newfound faith plus a nagging feeling that they had missed out on Jesus’ return and had been left behind. Some had already given up and many were shaken and on the edge of helplessness. They needed hope.
Maybe you are there. After repeated and constant challenges and hardships, loss, brokenness, heartache or heartbreak, criticisms, conflicts, failures, crises, setbacks, health issues, worries… you name it, and you just need some hope.
How can you find hope? Are you willing to open yourself up to hope? God has a plan and is working behind the scenes to bring us hope. In this series, we will discover His answers to those looking for hope.
So bring your journals, your Bibles and a desire to find hope, this Sunday as we explore the book of 2 Thessalonians together.
