Keep watch and pray, so that you will not give in to temptation. For the spirit is willing, but the body is weak! - Matthew 26:41 (NLT)

The temptations in your life are no different from what others experience. And God is faithful. He will not allow the temptation to be more than you can stand. When you are tempted, he will show you a way out so that you can endure. - 1 Corinthians 10:13

There are at least 2 truths about temptations that we should always remember.

1.    We will be tempted.

2.    God will provide a way out.

Temptations are interesting. They can be somewhat harmless – i.e., the temptation to eat that extra piece of cake or that doughnut.

Some can be powerful and dangerous and can wreck a life and affect generations.

Some have simple consequences. Some are complex.

Many can take us away from God.

Some can come from within.

Some come from outside sources.

All are enticing – that is what makes them a temptation.

While we are here, we will deal with them.

To follow Jesus, we must learn how to deal with temptation.

Today, I want to encourage you to watch this talk below about temptation from Craig Groeschel, pastor of Life.Church. I found it to be very helpful in thinking about and dealing with temptation.

I encourage you to watch it and talk it over with someone. I think that would be helpful. Feel free to contact me about it too (patrick@bridgeschurch.net) with any thoughts you might have.

We are in a fight.

The temptation is not our fault. What we do with it is.

May God give you the strength to choose His way out.
