Some of you have reached out asking if the flooding in Eastern Kentucky has impacted Maytown, the community where we were for our mission trip just a few weeks ago. Unfortunately, it has impacted Maytown and several surrounding areas.
I have shared in this space a few times now how much Maytown means to me and how God has used that small nook of the world to impact my life. One of the projects we worked on while we were there was framing a small addition on a home in town so a 60 year old man doesn’t have to haul his water heater, washer and dryer up the steps from the ground level basement everytime it floods.
As I am writing this, it is too soon to know the full scope of the damage and impact this flood has/will have. It seems to be impacting a much larger area in the region than the “typical Maytown flood” normally does. So for now, pray for the community. Pray for local, state and federal leaders and first responders as they are literally making life and death decisions as I am writing this.
Be on the lookout in the coming day and weeks for more information on how we can help Maytown and surrounding communities.
